I recently came across this quote on John Maxwell’s site:
Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name them – work, family, health, friends and spirit – and you’re keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back.
But the other four balls – family, health, friends and spirit – are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged, or even shattered. They will never be the same.
On reading this, I started to reflect upon my own life and what I place most value on. Just think about it – a glass (or substitute crystal, if you like) is not only more fragile than a rubber ball, it is also much more valuable. Yet, most of the time we devote our time and effort on ensuring that the rubber ball does not crash.
Honestly look at your life. What glass balls might you be juggling a little irresponsibly at the moment?
For one, look at your health. What are you doing at present to keep this precious part of your life going? You may have big dreams of achievement and leaving a legacy – but you’ll only be able to do this if your body keeps you strong! As much as we’d love to ignore our bodily needs, it is the vehicle that keeps us here on earth. The best things about the summer, the sunny days, cooling of in the pool or swimming in the ocean, are often to blame for the holiday hair despair. If your hair is feeling, dry, frazzled, dull and lifeless – or even just showing signs of this, it is time to act fast to ensure that your hair regains and stays silky and shiny.
Your hair needs protection against the sun. Specifically if you have coloured or chemically treated hair, your hair needs even more protection as it is more porous. Wearing a hat can help a lot!
