Have you also wondered whether it is best to eat before or after exercise? Or whether you should have your sports drink before or after exercise?
In terms of how food works: carbohydrates are digested into energy within a short span of time. Therefore, when you need an energy boost, your body will need carbohydrates. Eating a small portion of carbohydrates before exercise is useful as it will help your body to perform at its best during exercise. Examples are a small banana, 50-100ml fruit juice, or a few sips of your Herbalife shake, or a small portion of carbohydrate rich energy drink.
When carbohydrates and proteins are combined, you will get a slower, more sustainable release of energy. This is good when you are having a meal or a snack. If your meal only consists of carbohydrates, you will have an energy spike, but soon after, also an energy dip where you feel mostly crave more carbohydrates as your body needs energy. This might have you reaching for fast foods, sugary snacks etc. Therefore, for every meal and snack, always combine your carbs and proteins.
Then one also needs to deal with the amount of perspiration during your exercise. This can cause a drop in your hydration levels, which is not the optimum place for your body. The Herbalife H3O Pro Isotonic drink can be enjoyed during and after exercise to help maintain your hydration and mineral levels.
If you are already on the Herbalife weight loss programme, have a few sips of your shake before your exercise, and the rest after as a meal. If you are using the programme to gain weight, ensure that you prepare your after-exercise shake milk and added Herbalife Personalised Protein Powder.

2 tbsp low fat vanilla yoghurt
2 tsp peanut butter
2 tbsp Herbalife Protein Powder

½ cup low-fat vanilla yoghurt
1/8 cup frozen orange juice concentrate
½ cup fat free milk
2 tsbp Herbalife Protein Powder
