Ask your
Herbalife consultant for advice
Many skin and health problems can be prevented
or the effects reduced without surgery or extreme
measures. Your Herbalife consultant will be able
to provide advice on healthy diet, nutrition and
supplements, or topical applications that can
be used to reduce the effects of aging and nutrition
deficiencies in the body. The Herbalife consultant
cannot however, prescribe medication or make a
diagnosis of a condition.
Some of the conditions that can be prevented
or the effects thereof reduced, are discussed
here for informational purposes only and is not
a diagnosis of any illness. You should seek the
advice of your doctor before embarking on any
treatment or diet.
Many people live with bagginess and rings under
their eyes and have given up on attempts to reduce
their appearance. Herbalife has developed a range
of products for eye care that can help reduce
the appearance of puffiness and dark rings under
the eyes. Poor nutrition, too little sleep, stress
and the exposure to pollutants, can all cause
this condition.
Speak to your Herbalife consultant about the
NouriFusion™ MultiVitamin Eye Gel and how
it can help to reduce the appearance of puffiness
and dark rings under the eyes when caused by work
overload, stress etc. Persistence of the problem
can be contributed to a number of other causes
and should be taken up with your physician.
Causes and treatment of bagginess under the eyes
People with over active thyroids often have dark
rings under their eyes. If you notice any symptoms
related to the possible mal-functioning of your
thyroid, you should seek medical advice.
Poor nutrition
As you get older, your skin starts to produce
less collagen, which is needed for elasticity.
Vitamin C is essential for helping the skin produce
collagen. Although fruit contain this vitamin,
your daily intake may not be enough. Smoking (even
secondary smoking) can seriously deplete the body
of Vitamin C, which in turn can cause premature
aging of the skin. The minimum recommended daily
intake of this vitamin is not enough for revitalizing
the skin.
Smoking
If you are smoking, suffer from bagginess under
the eyes or are over 35, consider taking a supplement
that contains Vitamin C. Before you purchase a
supplement, speak to your Herbalife consultant
and a medical practitioner. Also try to get as
much fresh air as possible.
Note on taking supplements
You shouldn’t take any herbal supplements
or herbs when you are pregnant, breastfeeding
or suffering from a chronic disease before consultation
with your doctor. A good Vitamin C supplement
should also contain or be used in conjunction
with one that has bioflavonoid as an ingredient
to help with the absorption of the vitamin.
Water balance
Vitamin C is also helpful in the
case where water retention is the cause for bagginess,
since it helps to remove excess water from the
body. Diuretic medication can also do this, but
may have side-effects. An excess of salt intake
may cause the water retention. By reducing your
salt intake you help your body to restore the
balance.
Allergic reaction
Toxins and allergies to pollen, mite or something
in the air, can cause your eyes to swell even
when you don’t have any other allergy signs.
If you notice that your eyes become a bit swollen
after handling animals or coming in contact with
a chemical, dust, or specific item, you should
consider getting tested for allergic reactions.
You may even be allergic to an ingredient in your
make up or skin care products.
By using a multivitamin supplement that boosts
your immune system, your body gets the assistance
it needs to fight the allergies. Speak to your
Herbalife consultant for more information on the
right type of skin care and products available
with Vitamin C and other immune boosters.
Skin care products
Incorrect use of any skin cream
can cause bagginess under the eyes. Correct application
will prevent this. Speak to your Herbalife consultant
about the skin and eye care range that is hypo
allergenic with a neutral ph.
Sleep deprivation, stress and fatigue
Too little fresh air when you sleep can also result
in bags under your eyes. Open a window for good
air circulation. You may be sleeping on a too
low pillow. Place an extra pillow under your head
to prevent excess fluid from forming under your
eyes. If you sleep too little, you should increase
the time and quality.
Working at your pc or watching television for
several hours place strain on your eyes that cause
dark rings to form. Spend fewer hours before a
screen and give your eyes rest.
Toxic build-up in the body
Toxic build-up in the
body from the wrong kind of food, smoking, excessive
alcohol consumption, coffee and other beverages,
as well as digestive tract problems, can also
cause rings and bagginess under the eyes. Speak
to your Herbalife consultant about a cleansing
diet, healthy food and supplements with anti-oxidant
properties to improve your well-being.
