Water
and weight loss… Of all the essential nutrients,
water is the most critical needed for tissue building,
circulation, transporting nutrients, digestion,
and excretion. So why is water important for those
persons who wish to weigh less? Water is a natural
appetite suppressor as water tends to fill you
up which, in turn, keeps you from eating unnecessary
food; hereby assisting with weight loss. Many
people say that even after eating they still feel
some hunger. What they perceive as hunger is actually
thirst. So when you feel hungry after a good meal,
drink water to fill up that last gap, and restrain
yourself from going to the fridge for one more
bite.
If insufficient water is taken daily the kidneys
cannot function as they ought to, causing the
liver to overwork. A major function of the liver
is to metabolise fat and carbohydrates and to
neutralise poisons in the body. However, if the
liver has to give additional help to the kidneys,
it cannot function properly. The result is less
fat metabolism and an increase in fatty deposits.
The fat remains stored and weight loss decreases.
Drinking too little water can cause constipation
thereby not allowing the body to get rid of waste
effectively. Regular water intake can also improve
fluid retention control which will relive swollen
feet, legs and fingers. Remember to keep the salt
intake monitored as further aggravation can result
from an unmonitored situation.
ShapeLife recommends drinking at least 8 glasses
of water everyday in order to just stay hydrated.
